Sport1 links up with DAZN

German sports broadcaster Sport1 has signed a content partnership with DAZN, the new OTT sports subscription service operated by digital media specialist Perform.

Under the deal, the two platforms will share rights to sports properties, offering live and on-demand coverage, as well as highlights.

Pay-television channel Sport1 Plus will show Women’s Tennis Association tournaments over three years, from 2017 to 2019, with free-to-air channel Sport1 providing coverage of the annual Stuttgart tournament and WTA Finals in Singapore.

Sport1 Plus will also offer coverage of the Spanish LaLiga, Italian Serie A, French Ligue 1, Scottish Premiership and Belgian Pro League football top tiers, with the top goals from the leagues featuring in the ‘Goooal!’ magazine show on Sport1 every Tuesday evening.

Highlights from football’s English Premier League will be shown on Monday evenings on Sport1, which has also acquired clip distribution rights and will offer highlights of the various leagues’ games on the Sport1.de website, as well as via the Sport1 applications.

DAZN will show coverage of the German Handball Bundesliga, the men’s tennis ATP World Tour, as well as ice hockey.

Last month, DAZN launched in Germany, Austria and Switzerland at a monthly price of €9.99 ($11) with no long-term fixed contract and no advertising.
