Sportradar nets extension to wide-ranging Tennis Australia deal

Sports data and content company Sportradar has signed a multi-year extension to its agreement with Tennis Australia, through which its services will be used during the Australian Open grand slam.

Sportradar will continue to deliver audiovisual, data and integrity services for the Australian Open, including the main draw, qualifiers and wild card play-offs. The deal also covers the ATP 250 Adelaide event.

Sportradar first partnered with Tennis Australia during the 2016-17 season. The extension has been signed following what Sportradar described as a competitive tender process.

Sportradar will deliver matches through its audiovisual encoding services to provide high-definition streams on the Australian Open’s official website, app and social media channels, as well as for broadcasters in territories such as Australia, New Zealand, the Indian subcontinent and the Americas.

The new deal also includes the provision of Sportradar’s Server Slide Ad Insertion, a dynamic automated IP-based advertising insertion tool that allows more efficient commercialisation of streams.

Sportradar will administer and analyse data from matches to provide content and statistics that can drive engagement for clients. The company’s integrity fraud detection services will also be used to protect matches from betting-related integrity threats.

The extension has been announced as the 2020 Australian Open got underway today (Monday) in Melbourne.
