Canadian pay-television broadcaster Sportsnet has acquired rights to a number of Fifa events, including the 2014 Fifa World Cup, in a sublicensing deal with rights-holder CBC, the public-service broadcaster in Canada.
The deal follows a successful sublicensing deal for last year’s Fifa Women’s World Cup.
As well as the 2014 World Cup, Sportsnet will also show coverage from this month’s, the U-20 men’s World Cup in 2013, the 2012 Futsal World Cup, the U-17 Women’s World Cups in 2012 and 2014, the 2013 Beach Soccer World Cup and the 2013 Confederation Cup.
