The Star India broadcast subsidiary of media company 21st Century Fox has introduced subscription-based live streaming of cricket and football events on its Starsports.com website.
The MediaNama website said that Starsports.com had offered free live streaming of cricket content since its beta launch in January, but had previously stated that it eventually planned to charge for the service.
Starsports.com now offers customers three packages. A day pass costs Rs50 (€0.60/$0.80), while a monthly pass is being offered at Rs500.
Tournament-based season passes are also being provided for individual events such as cricket’s Champions League Twenty20 and football’s English Premier League and Spanish Liga.
