Star India picks up IPTL rights

Pay-television broadcaster Star India has acquired rights for the International Premier Tennis League, a new team competition that will take place across several countries in Asia, according to the Indian Television news website.

The length of the deal was not disclosed, but the agreement will run until at least the end of the inaugural 2014 season.

Star India struck the deal with the UFA Sports agency.

The Indian team franchise will compete against teams from the Philippines, Singapore and the UAE from November 28 to December 13. Gael Monfils, Pete Sampras and Ana Ivanovic (pictured) are amongst the players assigned to the Indian franchise.
