Star India pouches India-West Indies US T20 rights

Pay-television broadcaster Star India has acquired rights for the upcoming Twenty20 cricket matches in the US between India and the West Indies.

Star India was awarded the rights for the two T20 games on August 27 and 28 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India following a tender process.

According to various reports, Star India agreed to pay a total of €4.6m ($5.1m) for the rights to the two matches. The BCCI had set a reserve price of €1.5m per match.

The BCCI, which is hosting the occasion at Fort Lauderdale in Florida, is hoping that the matches in the US will be developed into an annual event.
