Star India set to bid for new Tamil Nadu Twenty20 competition

Pay-television broadcaster Star India will submit a bid to show coverage of the Tamil Nadu Premier Twenty20 League cricket tournament, according to daily newspaper The Hindu.

The new league is set to take place in the Indian cities of Chennai and Natham in August and September of this year and will feature players registered with the state association.

The report added that the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, which will operate the competition, had received a request from another interested party to extend the deadline of bids from May 26 to the first week of June.

The television, mobile and internet rights for the event have been bundled together.

The base price for the rights is R70m (€900,000/$1m).
