Star Sports snaps up new tennis league rights

Indian pay-television broadcaster Star Sports has confirmed the acquisition of rights for the inaugural International Premier Tennis League franchise competition.

The league will feature events in India as well as the Philippines, Singapore and Dubai.

It is set to run from November 28 to December 13, with the likes of Roger Federer, Pete Sampras, Gael Monfils and Ana Ivanovic signed up to play for India's franchise.

“The International Premier Tennis League is an unprecedented opportunity for sports fans across India to experience the game played by its legends,” Star India’s president of sports, Nitin Kukreja, said.
