TSN and RDS hole US Open rights extension

The United States Golf Association has extended its long-term partnership for Canadian pay-television sports broadcaster TSN and French-language sister network RDS to broadcast the US Open and other tournaments under the USGA umbrella through to 2022.

The USGA’s renewed eight-year agreement with TSN and RDS takes effect from 2015 and includes extended coverage across the broadcasters’ television, radio and online platforms for the US Open, US Women’s Open and US Senior Open Championships, along with USGA’s national amateur championships.

The deal maintains RDS and TSN’s portfolio of premier golf rights, which includes the year’s three other major championships – the Masters, the Open Championship and the PGA Championship – and the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup matchplay events.

The announcement comes ahead of TSN and RDS covering the 2014 edition of the US Open, which commences  tomorrow in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
