TSN has sealed a rights deal with the Canada Basketball national governing body that will allow the Canadian pay-television broadcaster to show coverage of the Canada men’s and women’s national teams.
The deal will cover the teams’ qualifying events ahead of the 2016 summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
French-language sister channel RDS will also provide coverage of the various events, which are operated by Fiba, basketball's global governing body.
This year, TSN and RDS will show coverage of the 2015 Fiba Americas Women’s Championship in Edmonton, Canada from August 9-16 and the 2015 Fiba Americas Championship in Mexico City, Mexico from August 31 to September 12. TSN will also broadcast the 2015 Fiba U-19 World Championship in Heraklion, Greece, from June 27 to July 5.
Next year, the broadcasters will show coverage of the Fiba women’s Olympic qualifying tournament from June 13-19 before the men’s Olympic qualifying competition from July 4-10.
