TVE to broadcast Rio 2016 Paralympics

Spanish public-service broadcaster TVE has agreed a rights deal for coverage of this summer’s Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

TVE’s coverage of the Games will include the opening and closing ceremonies as well as the majority of events featuring Spanish athletes.

Coverage will be available in Spain via TVE’s television channels and the broadcaster’s website. TVE will also send a technical team to work on-site during the Games.

TVE brokered the deal with the Higher Sports Council, the Spanish Paralympic Committee national governing body and LaLiga, the organising body of the top division of Spanish club football.

TVE also broadcast 240 hours of programming during the 2012 Paralympics in London.
