Twitter to provide World Cup content in Malaysia

Malaysian pay-television broadcaster Astro has agreed a content partnership with social media platform Twitter for the 2018 Fifa World Cup.

Astro holds pay-television rights to the national team football tournament, which kicks off in Russia on June 14, and will provide Twitter with near-live match clips and wider content via @stadiumastro.

Content will include goal alerts from the match of the day, replays of the best goal of the day, daily roundups capturing key moments and a collection of video clips of the star player of a match.

The new collaboration is the latest in a string of partnerships between the broadcaster and Twitter which already includes football’s English Premier League and the Asian Football Confederation’s Champions League and AFC Cup; motor-racing championship Formula One; motorcycling series MotoGP; and action from golf’s PGA Tour and Asian Tour.
