Uefa ties up Champions League deals in Belgium and the Czech Republic

Uefa, European football’s governing body, has concluded deals for Champions League media rights in Belgium and the Czech Republic for three seasons, from 2012-13 to 2014-15.

In Belgium, it agreed a deal with commercial broadcaster RTL for French-language, free-to-air rights. RTL has acquired rights to the first-pick match each match night, which it will show on the Club RTL channel.

Earlier this month, Uefa agreed deals with commercial broadcaster VMMA for free-to-air Flemish-language rights and with pay-television operator Belgacom for the pay-television rights in both French and Flemish.

In the Czech Republic, the Modern Times Group, the multi-territory commercial and pay-television broadcaster, acquired exclusive live rights to all Tuesday night matches and all Wednesday matches, except for the first-pick match, until the semi-finals. Coverage will be shown on the free-to-air channel Prima Cool. MTG also has the exclusive pay-television rights to the final.

Both deals, which were brokered by the Team Marketing agency, include highlights programming, and mobile and internet rights.
