USL extends ESPN, ESPN+ partnership until 2022

The United Soccer League has announced a new broadcast deal with ESPN, which features USL Championship and League One matches on ESPN linear networks and streaming service ESPN+ through the 2022 season.

Terms of the deal were not announced, but The Athletic reported that ESPN will pay the USL a rights fee in the low seven-figure range.

According to a press release, the new agreement will see a three-fold rise in the number of games televised annually on ESPN’s networks, including the addition of Spanish-language telecasts on ESPN Deportes.

Under the new agreement, 18 regular-season games from the USL Championship will air on ESPN2, ESPNEWS, ESPNU or ESPN Deportes annually, in addition to the USL Championship Final. All other matches will be streamed live on ESPN+.
