Ustream expands relationship with Universal Sports Network

The Ustream website agreed a deal with Universal Sports Network to stream the US sports broadcaster’s live coverage of several sporting events, including the 2012 alpine skiing World Cup and the Sevens World Series rugby union competition.

The deal also includes North American and Caribbean men’s national team football qualifiers for the London 2012 Olympic Games, swimming, figure skating, gymnastics and coverage of leading cycling races such as the Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España.

The coverage will be available via Ustream to viewers in the United States.
The two companies initially linked up to provide online coverage of last year’s Rugby World Cup.

“Given the performance of our initial collaboration around the Rugby World Cup, we
were thrilled to extend the relationship in distributing their 2012 programming to our network of 51 million unique viewers,” Wayne Sieve, Ustream’s vice president of content partnerships, said.

The new deal will begin with coverage of the next round of the alpine skiing World Cup, which begins on Saturday, February 18, in Bansko, Bulgaria. The remainder of the 2011-12 World Cup season can be accessed for $29.99 (€22.75) or for $7.99 per stop on the calendar. The next round of the Sevens World Series will take place in So Kon Po, Hong Kong, from March 23 to 25. Individual matches can be purchased for $4.99.
