Virgin Media, Eir carriage dispute heads to Commercial Court

A long-running carriage dispute between Irish telecoms operators Virgin Media and Eir has been fast-tracked to the Commercial Court in Dublin.

The complaint brought by Virgin Media centres on Eir’s alleged failure to pay a €2.5m ($3m) fee for the distribution of Virgin’s sports channels. Eir in August removed its sports channels from the platforms of Virgin Media in an escalation of the dispute between the companies.
