World Sport Group has entered into an agreement with B4 Capital to acquire its fellow agency’s Asian media rights across the entire portfolio of European football and Italian rugby union.
As part of the long-term deal, WSG will be managing the Asian media rights for Spanish club football’s Copa del Rey knockout competition, along with the Supercopa de España – the annual season curtain-raiser between the reigning Copa and La Liga champions. In addition, the deal includes the Asian broadcasting rights to all home friendly matches involving the Spanish national team.
Amongst other acquired assets, WSG will be managing the Asian media distribution of the final stages of Italy’s leading domestic cup competition, the Coppa Italia, along with Serie B – the second tier of club football. WSG and B4’s agreement also adds rights to all Test and pre-World Cup matches involving the Italian national rugby union team.
The contract also includes Asian media rights to distribute B4 Capital’s European national and club friendly matches, as well as the home games of Portuguese Primeira Liga team Benfica.
