World TeamTennis goes global with OTT platform

US-based mixed gender team league World TeamTennis has launched a new OTT platform that will provide live streaming of every match for the first time in its 43-season history.

Insurance company Geico has signed on as the presenting sponsor of WTT.tv, which will this year provide 43 matches over 22 days in six team markets.

Fans from around the globe will be provided with live or on-demand access to every match on WTT.tv’s mobile-optimised website. Select live matches will also be available on World TeamTennis’ channels on social media platform Facebook and video-sharing service YouTube throughout the season, with other digital partners to be announced soon.

“WTT.tv will give our fans around the world a totally new, season-long level of access to World TeamTennis matches and our world-class players,” Ilana Kloss, WTT chief executive and commissioner, said. “We’re excited about using this digital platform to expand our reach and engagement with audiences globally.”

Leading up to the WTT season opener in mid-July, WTT.tv will feature an in-depth preview show featuring some of the stars who have signed up to compete. The 2018 player roster features more than 40 players from 14 countries including Venus Williams, John Isner, Naomi Osaka, Jack Sock, Sloane Stephens, Kevin Anderson, Frances Tiafoe, Sam Querrey, Taylor Fritz, and Bob and Mike Bryan.

WTT.tv match coverage begins on July 15, when 2017 champion Orange County Breakers starts its title defence at home against the Philadelphia Freedoms. The 2018 season concludes with the WTT Finals on August 5, with the top two teams from the regular season.
