Wrexham AFC, celebrity owners unhappy with broadcast rights

National League football’s Wrexham AFC and its celebrity owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have expressed their displeasure with the inability for the club’s games to be streamed domestically and internationally.

The famed Welsh club is at the center of a just-released docuseries titled Welcome to Wrexham, which chronicles their journey in owning and operating the club as it pursues promotion back into the English Football Leagues. The club and its owners are looking to capitalize on the show by airing or streaming games, but currently cannot due to British broadcaster BT Sport’s ownership of National League broadcast rights. It is airing a select 30 matches during the 2022-23 season.
