Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees and the YES Network have revived a long-planned digital rights deal with Amazon in which the ecommerce and streaming video giant will show 21 live Yankees games this season on Amazon Prime Video.
The agreement brings back all the key parameters of the digital distribution originally planned for the 2020 season, notably the simulcasting on Amazon Prime Video within the Yankees’ local-market footprint of games also televised on WPIX-TV in New York and other over-the-air partners. That geographic territory for the Yankees covers parts of New York state, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut.
