Video-sharing website YouTube has announced plans to launch a new service that will deliver a range of major television channels to subscribers via the internet.

Starting this spring, for $35 (€33) per month, subscribers in the US will be able to watch more than 40 channels, including sports channels, through YouTube TV.

The four major US networks and about 35 of their affiliates will be available, including sports channels such as ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN 3, ESPN U, ESPN News, Golf Channel, SEC Network, Fox Sports, FS1, FS2, Comcast Sportsnet and NBCSN.

Fox Soccer Plus will be available as an add-on channel.

YouTube TV will allow subscribers to record shows, with unlimited storage. Recordings will be deleted after nine months.
