Zimbabwe state broadcaster in talks to acquire Confederations Cup rights

ZBC, the state-owned broadcaster in Zimbabwe, is in talks to acquire live rights for the 2013 Confederations Cup national team football tournament in Brazil, according to the Zimeye news website.

The report said that ZBC is in negotiations with the Sportfive agency to acquire rights for the competition, which is operated by Fifa, football’s global governing body.

ZBC chief executive Happison Muchechetere said that the broadcaster was “working flat out to iron out the remaining obstacles.”

He added: “I am not yet in a position to disclose how much was required for the acquisition of the rights but the figures will be issued out as soon as the deal is done.”
