French pay-television broadcaster Canal Plus has acquired the rights across more than 50 international territories to America’s Cup sailing properties leading up to the 2017 showpiece in Bermuda.
The deal includes the markets of France, Monaco and French-speaking Switzerland and it means Canal Plus will broadcast live racing and highlights from all America’s Cup events.
The America’s Cup World Series begins with three events in 2015, starting in Portsmouth, England on July 25-26. Canal Plus will cover the series throughout 2015 and 2016, along with the Youth America’s Cup. America’s Cup Qualifiers and Challenger Play-offs all feature along with the America’s Cup Finals in Bermuda in May and June 2017.
The Canal Plus Sport channel will carry the America’s Cup, which will also be available in full via the Canal Plus On Demand service.
Canal Plus returns to the America’s Cup having held rights to the last edition of the competition in 2013.
