New Zealand public-service broadcaster TVNZ has acquired rights for the 2018 Commonwealth Games multi-sport event.
Coverage of the Games, which will take place on Australia’s Gold Coast, will be shown exclusively in New Zealand on TV One and TVNZ’s sports channel.
Live online streaming and highlights will be provided via the TVNZ OnDemand and One News Now platforms.
Under the deal, broadcasters across the Pacific in Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Norfolk Island, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu will also be able to access TVNZ’s live coverage and highlights.
TVNZ has broadcast coverage of all but the last two editions of the Games and served as the host broadcaster for the event when it was staged in New Zealand in Christchurch in 1974 and in Auckland in 1990.
New Zealand pay-television broadcaster Sky Sport had rights for the 2014 edition of the Games, which took place in Glasgow, Scotland.
