International sports broadcaster Eurosport has acquired exclusive rights in Russia to Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tournaments.
The four-year deal begins in 2020 and provides Eurosport with rights to up to 47 WTA tournaments and 800 matches per year.
The Eurosport 1 and Eurosport Gold channels will provide comprehensive coverage of the WTA’s 21 Premier tournaments as part of the agreement. Eurosport 1 will provide up to 350 hours of live coverage of the WTA’s top-tier events, with Eurosport Gold to carry 900 hours of the remaining Premier competitions.
Eurosport’s online streaming service, Eurosport Player, will also provide coverage of matches.
Ten Russian players are currently ranked inside the top 100 in the WTA Rankings. Eurosport already holds rights in Russia to the men’s ATP Tour and the four grand slams.
Eurosport’s three-year deal with the ATP Tour began at the start of 2019 and grants the broadcaster rights to 39 tournaments per season. The agreement includes nine Masters 1000 events, 13 ATP 500 events and 15 ATP 250 events, as well as the end-of-season ATP Finals and the Next Gen ATP Finals.
