Australian pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports has acquired exclusive rights for the US Open tennis tournament.
The deal with the US Tennis Association governing body, which operates the annual competition, will run from four years, from 2013 to 2016.
It is the first time that Fox Sports will have exclusive rights to the tournament, with the US Open having been removed from the so-called anti-siphoning list, which ensured that a free-to-air broadcaster was also guaranteed coverage of the event.
Fox Sports will show more than 170 hours of live coverage of the 2013 event, which starts next week. The broadcaster will also show a 30-minute review programme, Tennis Today, on every day of the tournament.
