Australian commercial broadcaster Seven has struck a free-to-air rights deal for the Victorian Football League (VFL) Aussie rules competition.
The agreement will run for two years, from 2015 to 2016.
Seven, which has replaced long-running VFL rights-holder and public-service broadcaster ABC, will broadcast live coverage of the match of the round every week as well as most VFL finals and the Grand Final in the Victorian market.
The games will be shown on Seven’s main channel, probably immediately before Saturday or Sunday afternoon broadcasts of the Australian Football League (AFL) Aussie rules competition. Seven currently shows four games per round of the AFL and all AFL finals through to the end of the 2016 season.
