US digital media group VOS has agreed a deal with sports data and technology company Stats Perform to aid the launch of applications providing a “customisable sporting experience” to consumers in Latin America.
Stats Perform will provide their sports data and content feeds for the service, through which New York-headquartered VOS is combining a growing library of multi-language short-form sports video content with a user-defined app experience in partnership with telcos and media companies.
The two parties said fans will be able to access the latest on the world’s most popular sporting events, creating personalised content experiences powered by Stats Perform’s sports data. Companies and sponsors throughout the region will in turn be able to utilise VOS applications to share top sporting content with their own users.
Paul Feller, chairman and chief executive of VOS, said: “VOS will initially launch this new partnership in Brazil, the sixth largest global economy, and then expand throughout greater LATAM focusing on both the sports and breaking news content verticals.
“Brazil has some of the most passionate sports fans in the world and we want to deliver a customisable sporting experience that connects them to the events that matter most.”
The VOS application will be powered by Stats Perform’s live and post-event data for every event across 41 different sports. Football content will include Brazil’s Campeonato Brasileiro Série A and B, the Copa Libertadores, Uefa Champions League, English Premier League, Spanish LaLiga, German Bundesliga, Italy’s Serie A, French Ligue 1 and North America’s Major League Soccer.
The application will also cover the NBA basketball league, NFL American football league, Major League Baseball (MLB) and PGA Tour golf.
Stats Perform chief revenue officer Steve Xeller said: “VOS media is creating an exciting user experience to connect South American sports fans with some of the best moments in sports worldwide.
“VOS has a pedigree for developing easy-to-use content and sharing it through their platforms. We look forward to seeing how South American fans interact with this new form of sports content.”
The VOS agreement comes after Stats Perform signed two significant football contracts last month. MLS and US Soccer agreed an exclusive data rights deal with Stats Perform that will enable them to collectively provide real-time data to betting operators for the first time.
The deal was the first to be agreed after US Soccer and MLS opted to pool their data rights to increase their commercial appeal. Under the deal, which runs until the end of the 2022 season, Stats Perform will exclusively collect and analyse official MLS and US Soccer live stadium data and distribute it to US and global betting operators and media companies.
Stats Perform also agreed a four-year deal with the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol). Serving as Conmebol’s official data provider, Stats Perform will exclusively collect and manage data from its key competitions, including the Copa America, Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana and Recopa.
