The YouTube video-sharing website has announced it will provide “four to six” hours per day of live content from the 2013 Wimbledon tennis championships through its Live@Wimbledon channel.
The Google-owned company will provide live coverage from the tournament, along with studio analysis, behind-the-scenes features, press conferences and interviews. Historical clips and ‘golden moments’ from previous tournaments will also be available. A Google spokesperson told TV Sports Markets that “it is up to Wimbledon exactly what [content] is provided.”
The full Live@Wimbledon service will be restricted to the United States, Canada, South America (with the exception of Brazil), UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Cyprus and New Zealand.
Highlights will be available globally, except for the UK, US, South America, Germany, Austria and Italy. All other content that Wimbledon creates for the channel will be available on a global basis.
The channel is being sponsored by luxury watch brand Rolex.
The 2013 Wimbledon championships commenced today.
