Australian public-service broadcaster the ABC has agreed a deal with the International Basketball Federation (Fiba) for the rights to the 2014 World Cup and World Championship for Women.
The agreement means the tournaments will be screened live on free-to-air television in Australia for the first time, with the ABC2 channel set to cover the events.
All of Australia’s games in the competitions will be broadcast live and in full, along with all games from the quarter-final stages of the two events.
In addition, ABC2 will also broadcast live all the men’s Team USA games at the World Cup, which takes place in Spain from August 31 to September 14.
The Women’s World Championships are being hosted by Turkey from September 27 to October 6.
