Australian public-service broadcaster the ABC has acquired rights for the Asian Football Confederation's 2015 Asian Cup national team tournament in a sublicensing deal with pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports.
The ABC1 channel will show coverage of host nation Australia’s matches against Kuwait on January 9, Oman on January 13 and South Korea on January 17 on a two-hour delay.
ABC1 will also broadcast any match featuring Australia from the quarter-final stage live, and the semi-finals and the final live.
The broadcaster, which will show a daily half-hour highlights programme, has also acquired radio rights.
As part of the deal, ABC will broadcast the Japan v Australia friendly game on November 18.
Fox Sports will show live coverage of all 32 matches during the tournament.
