Abu Dhabi Sports, the sports channel of state-run media group Abu Dhabi Media, and Egyptian sports broadcaster ON Sport have acquired rights to the Arab Club Championship football tournament, which is set to relaunch later this year.
The two broadcasters have been appointed by the United Arab Football Association, organiser of the competition. The contracts will run for three years.
The Arab Club Championship ran under various guises on a regular basis from 1982, but has not been staged since the 2012-13 season.
Egypt is set to host 20 clubs from across the Arab region in the returning edition of the Championship from July 21 to August 5.
Algerian team USM Alger is the reigning champion of the competition having defeated Kuwait’s Al-Arabi 3-2 on aggregate in the 2012-13 final.
