Egyptian Premier League club Al Ahly has signed broadcast and sponsorship rights deals with domestic agency Presentation Sports and Saudi company Sela Sport, respectively, in what it claims represents record agreements for the Arab and African football markets.
The four-year deal with Presentation is worth EGP400m (€18.75m/$22.46m). Egyptian newspaper the Daily News said this represents an increase of EGP230m from Al Ahly’s previous agreement.
The agreement also grants Al Ahly TV, the club’s official channel, the rights to broadcast Premier League matches 90 minutes after they end, as well as the rights to broadcast the matches of all team sports to which Presentation owns the rights.
Sela has held a marketing partnership with Al Ahly, Africa’s most decorated football club, since 2015. Sela will now hold sponsorship rights to the Cairo-based club for the next four years.
“Signing such deals of (nearly) EGP1bn is the biggest in Egyptian, Arabian and African football history,” Al Ahly said in a club statement.
