The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), the organising body of the 2022 Fifa World Cup national team football tournament in Qatar, has entered into a partnership with local sports channel operator Al Kass.
The SC said the wide-ranging partnership will lead to cooperation in areas including, but not limited to, broadcast content production, media-rights ownership and public relations.
Al Kass is Qatar’s second-biggest sports media conglomerate after pay-television operator beIN Media Group. It is the official broadcast rights partner of the country’s domestic club football competition, the Qatar Stars League.
Essa Bin Abdulla Al‑Hitmi, Al Kass general manager, said the partnership will focus on production and broadcasting content.
SC secretary general Hassan Al Thawadi added: “This agreement formalises the existing cooperation between the SC and Al Kass and provides a framework to enhance our collaborative efforts. It will assist us in delivering our messages directly to the sport-mad populations of Qatar and the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council), ensuring awareness of our progress and initiatives.
“Local support and engagement is the most important foundation for a successful tournament and this partnership will serve to strengthen and enhance this support.”
The SC also said it will continue to sponsor the Al Kass International Cup until 2020. The organisation has been a sponsor of Qatar’s leading international Under-17 tournament since its inception in 2012.
