French pay-television broadcaster beIN Sports has extended rights for the North American NBA basketball league and secured coverage of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations tournament as part of a package of African football rights.
The NBA deal will run until at least the end of the 2016-17 season, which begins on October 26. BeIN Sports, which has broadcast the NBA for the past four years, will show 154 regular-season games, as well as 80 play-off contests, the All-Star Weekend and the NBA Finals.
According to the Media Sportif news service, the deal for the Africa Cup of Nations also includes coverage of the Confederation of African Football Champions League and Super Cup, as well as African qualifiers for the 2018 Fifa World Cup. BeIN Sports has been showing Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers since the middle of last year.
The report added that beIN Sports will also broadcast French football club Paris Saint-Germain’s home matches in the Uefa Women’s Champions League.
