French pay-television broadcaster beIN Sports has renewed rights to LaLiga, the top division of football in Spain, according to French daily newspaper L’Équipe.
The new deal will cover the next three seasons, from 2018-19 to 2020-21.
The rights fee will be an average of €30m ($37m) per season, up from €26m per season in the current cycle.
SFR Sport, the pay-television sports broadcaster operated by French telco Altice, expressed an interest in the rights, but was not willing to pay as much as beIN Sports, the report said.
Pay-television broadcaster Canal Plus did not compete in the auction, the newspaper added.
