BeIN Sports has added its live sports streaming channel, beIN Sports Xtra, to the Samsung TV Plus service.
The service, created in late 2016, is now pre-installed in all late-model television sets from the major electronics manufacturer, and as a result, is a prominent over-the-top service.
BeIN Sports Xtra will add to nearly 100 free TV channels now on Samsung TV Plus, and is a key element of the programmer’s expansion strategy, particularly in the US. Being a free platform, Samsung TV Plus also differs from many of the subscription-based OTT services currently on the market.
“Adding beIN Sports Xtra to free streaming television services gives sports fans everywhere a consistent live sampling of our world-class content,” said Antonio Briceño, beIN Sports deputy managing director for North America.
BeIN Sports has particularly gathered a large pool of media rights around international soccer, as well as wrestling, mixed martial arts, and several Olympic sports.
