French pay-television broadcaster Canal Plus has acquired rights to the newly-launched Basketball Champions League European club tournament.
The broadcaster’s three-year agreement with the competition covers the 2016-17 to 2018-19 seasons. The deal grants Canal Plus full coverage of the tournament.
Canal Plus will broadcast a minimum of 56 regular-season games each year, as well as the playoffs and Final Four fixtures.
The Basketball Champions League is a joint venture established by Fiba, the sport’s global governing body, and the top 10 domestic leagues in Europe. The qualification rounds for the inaugural campaign are currently ongoing, with the group stage to commence later this month.
