International cable company Liberty Global has placed its Chellomedia television-channel business up for sale, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Chellomedia is Liberty Global’s content division and produces and distributes television channels in a variety of genres, including sports.
The newspaper reports Liberty Global chairman John Malone has hired advisers to help arrange a deal, and is in talks with a handful of potential buyers over an agreement that could be worth between $800m (€620m) and $1bn.
Chellomedia is expected to attract interest from content providers and television networks. Talks could lead to a partial or full sale, a joint venture or no deal at all.
