Clubs to receive ‘significant’ increase from Libertadores rights income

Conmebol, football’s governing body in South America, has said that the clubs participating in the 2014 Copa Libertadores knockout competition will receive 95% of the media rights income from the tournament.

Conmebol treasurer Carlos Chávez said that the figure received by clubs had increased “significantly” since last year, without disclosing precise figures.

“We are reviewing a number of proposals with the idea that clubs receive more money from the first phase (of the tournament),” he added, according to the Goal.com news website.
