DAZN secures Commonwealth Games rights in Canada

DAZN, the OTT service operated by digital sports media company Perform, has acquired rights in Canada to the upcoming edition of the Commonwealth Games multi-sport event, which will be held in Gold Coast, Australia.

DAZN will have exclusive rights in Canada to the Games, which will run from April 4-15.

It will mark the first time that rights to the Games have been acquired exclusively by a live-streaming platform. DAZN will broadcast hundreds of hours of live coverage of the Games from across 26 sports.

To mark the partnership, Commonwealth Games Canada and DAZN Canada announced diver Meaghan Benfeito as Team Canada’s flag bearer for the Games. Benfeito (pictured) is a two-time Commonwealth Games gold medalist and a three-time Olympic bronze medalist.
