Sports streaming technology company Deltatre has made two additions to its commercial team, appointing World Wrestling Entertainment’s Adam Bigwood and former Perform executive Adam Bowley.
Deltatre said that the two arrivals continue the “significant investment in high-profile appointments” at the company.
Bigwood has become the director of Deltatre’s commercial division and will report to Pete Burns, vice-president, commercial in a role that involves responsibility for account management of key OTT clients.
At WWE, Bigwood was director of international operations in the Middle East and North Africa, working in media-rights distribution, OTT, content localisation, live events, marketing and brand development.
He has spent several years working in Dubai, including a spell of over eight years at OSN, the pay-television broadcaster in the Mena region.
Bowley has joined Deltatre from Sixty, the Norway-based broadcast technology company, in the London-based role of commercial manager. He will take on account management duties for Deltatre’s ‘Live’ clients in the UK.
Bowley will report to Lawrence Bowden, Deltatre’s senior director of account management. Bowden, who counts MP & Silva and Perform among his previous employers, joined Deltatre in the middle of 2018 as business development director.
Having started his sports industry career as a graphic designer at UK pay-television broadcaster Sky, Bowley moved to Perform in 2008 as head of graphics. He spent a decade at the company in various operational and management roles across design and production. He then supported the launch of the DAZN OTT subscription platform in Japan and German-speaking countries, overseeing graphics and production workflows.
In a nod to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, Andrea Marini, deputy chief commercial officer at Deltatre, said that the hires signal that “even at this very difficult time, Deltatre is committed to helping clients offer the best services to their users”.
He continued: “Both have a high level of competence in delivering value to rights-holders and rights owners, and I’m certain their knowledge will help Deltatre to foster new relationships across the industry, helping more partners reach their fans in ever more exciting ways.”
Clients of the Deltatre Live service include UK pay-television broadcaster BT Sport and the Swiss Football League. The NFL and the ATP Tour’s Tennis TV are among Deltatre’s OTT customers.
Earlier this year, Deltatre hired Major League Baseball’s James Johnson to the role of vice-president, Americas business development within its Live division.
The “significant” investment in personnel also comes with Bruin Sports Capital, the private equity firm founded by former IMG and Nascar executive George Pyne, said to have been exploring a sale of the company. Evercore, the New York-based investment advisory firm, has been appointed as Bruin mulls its options.
