US satellite-television provider DirecTV has sealed a multi-year distribution deal with the Walt Disney media company covering authenticated online video services for a number of broadcasters, including pay-television sports channel ESPN.
Under the renewed deal, DirecTV subscribers will be able to access channels such as ESPN, ESPN Goal Line, ESPN Buzzer Beater and ESPN 3, as well as college sports channels Longhorn Network, SEC Network and SEC Network Plus, through a variety of platforms.
The ‘TV Everywhere’ service is accessible on a range of internet-connected devices, including tablet and mobile platforms.
The deal also includes channels that are not dedicated to sport, such as the ABC network.
In announcing the agreement, the companies said that they would explore collaborating on “potential over-the-top offerings.”
