Media company Discover Digital’s new DEOD IPTV platform has acquired rights for the International Cricket Council’s 2017 Champions Trophy tournament and 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup.
In a sublicensing deal with the Channel 2 Group, DEOD will have exclusive rights for offering near-live, short-form content in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The deal includes all ICC events up until the 2019 Cricket World Cup, according to the Screen Africa news website.
Discover Digital managing director Stephen Watson said that the media company would seek to extend the partnership across Southeast Asia and Australia.
