ESPN has confirmed that its US Spanish-language broadcaster, ESPN Deportes, and its ESPN 2 channel will share live coverage of matches from the 2013-14 Liga MX, the top division of football in Mexico.
Having commenced with three games at the weekend, ESPN Deportes’ live coverage will continue with the clash between Monarcas Morelia and Toluca on Friday.
In March, ESPN Deportes acquired an enhanced Mexican football rights package as part of its plans to strengthen its football content following the loss of Spanish top-tier Liga rights.
ESPN also said that ESPN 2 will show some Liga MX games accompanied by English-language commentary during the season. The next game scheduled for coverage on ESPN 2 is Queretaro’s match against Chivas de Guadalajara on August 23.
