Fisu, the governing body of international university sport, has struck a rights deal with US pay-television broadcaster ESPN for live coverage of the Summer Universiade multi-sport event next month in Kazan, Russia.
ESPN will show more than 40 hours of action on its ESPNU college sports channel and the ESPN3 online streaming platform.
The broadcaster said that its coverage would focus on the basketball, water polo, swimming, track and field athletics, beach volleyball and volleyball competitions.
It is the first time that live coverage of the Summer Universiade, Fisu’s flagship event, will be available in the US.
The event will run from July 6-17.
