International sports broadcaster Eurosport has secured rights to the Wimbledon tennis championships in a further eight territories.
The three-year arrangement will cover the 2017, 2018 and 2019 editions of the UK’s grand slam tournament.
Eurosport will broadcast live coverage of the event in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan.
Eurosport’s coverage of Wimbledon now stretches to a total of 33 countries, with the broadcaster also televising the tournament on an exclusive basis in Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, Hungary, Iceland, Norway, Romania, Russia, Sweden, and Ukraine.
Eurosport also broadcasts non-exclusive coverage in Albania, Armenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Estonia, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Serbia, Slovenia and the UK.
Last week, Eurosport announced that its coverage of the 2017 Australian Open final between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal reached 20.7m fans, making it the highest rating tennis match ever shown on Eurosport.
