Eurosport Gold, a new channel containing programming from the international sports broadcaster’s Eurosport 2 channel, has launched on telecommunications platform Rostelecom in Russia.
The channel has been established following a collaboration between the telco and Media Alliance, which distributes Eurosport and other channels operated by Discovery Communications in Russia.
Eurosport Gold will be available to Rostelecom’s Advanced, Maximum and Optimum package interactive-television subscribers, with a high-definition version of the channel available via the Ideal HD package. The carriage arrangement will make the channel available to about 4.5 million households.
Eurosport Gold will show NHL North American ice hockey coverage, as well as Italian football and tennis action.
