International sports broadcaster Eurosport has reached an agreement to continue showing the US Open grand slam tennis tournament across Europe, with the exception of the UK and Ireland.
The new five-year deal runs until 2022 and grants Eurosport exclusive rights to the event. Eurosport agreed the deal with the United States Tennis Association.
Eurosport’s coverage will be shown across its television channels and the Eurosport Player on-demand digital service.
Eurosport has historically sublicensed rights to the US Open in the UK and Ireland, where the tournament is now without a rights-holder.
Eurosport also holds rights to the three other tennis grand slams, providing coverage of the Australian Open and French Open in more than 50 European countries, and Wimbledon in 34 countries and territories across the continent.
