Pan-regional broadcaster Eurosport has reached an agreement to show the new Singapore Swim Stars swimming event in 51 European countries.
The deal with event organiser Sports Swim Organisation takes in the inaugural edition of Singapore Swim Stars on September 5. The event will air on the Eurosport 2 channel throughout Europe from 1pm to 2.30pm CET, with the exception of France where it will be broadcast on Eurosport.
More than 40 of the world’s premier sprinters will compete in the one-day showpiece at the OCBA Aquatics Centre in Singapore. Among the 12 Olympic champions and 21 world champions lined-up are Katinka Hosszu (pictured), Jessica Hardy, Rūta Meilutytė, Nathan Adrian, Fabien Gilot and Jeanette Ottesen. The program, without any heats, will feature only semi-finals and finals.
Stephan Caron, two-time Olympic medallist and one of the founders of Sports Swim Organisation, said: “We are delighted Eurosport will be broadcasting the event live. It’s a fantastic endorsement and further supports our belief that spectators and the media are looking for innovative swimming events. Our concept is designed to combine world-class athletic performances with an exciting show and is therefore the perfect format for TV broadcast.”
